Feminism 101

In the Blog about Feminism by Melissa EcWan she describes the feminism crisis in our society. Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, cultural, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women. It’s the the way you look, or talk, being gay, handicaped, driving your car, the color of your skin. Every women is different and all of them are judged.

Women are seen as a tool in a way, something that can be used and tossed out when it doesn’t work any longer. Women are always judged, more then men and face a lot of feminism on a daily basis. Go make me a sandwich women, you hear that a lot, even if its just men making a joke. Also, are you on you period, it must be that time of the month your moody. “Let’s put this shit to bed right now: Women don’t lose their minds when they have period-related irritability. It doesn’t lower their ability to reason; it lowers their patience and, hence, tolerance for bullshit”(EcWan). The your on your period excuse is dumb, if men had a period they would be worse then women, most are already moody constantly.

Men and women can be treated equal if feminism stops to a certain point, women have a lot of stress to bear upon themselves due to other women and men, you will get judged for just about anything.”Men are there to provide and discipline; women are there to care. This lie is the foundation for every damnable binary about sex and emotion in our culture—men are rational; woman are emotional—and it is on what we’ve based our pernicious refusal to regard the most destructive versions of emotions like anger, jealousy, possessiveness, vengeance, apathy, and selfishness as not emotions at all, but merely biological evidence of strength, as long as they emanate from men”(EcWan). Women can accomplish just about as much as any man, they are not weaker because we show our emotions. Kids especially, they need confidence and encouraging to do better constantly. Kids take feminism a lot harder then adults, it affects them longer. and changes them before they even have to the chance to find out who they really are or what they like to wear.

Women will always test the boundries and grow, evolve along side men.”For a very long time, women really have entered male-centered spaces at their own risk, and it really has been like entering a war zone for a whole lot of women—women who wanted the right to vote, women who wanted to work in mines, women who want to play sports for which there’s no organized women’s league, women who want their basic goddamned equality in every space—who were brutalized and subjected to all manner of indignity for their trouble”(EcWan). Women are just as capable of anything a man can do the just need the assurance and confidence as well.

No matter who you are, what you wear or what you talk like. A person is a person and we all need to treat each other equally. Treat people how you would like to be treated, put yourself in their shoes just for a moment, how would you feel? Many people are to afraid to face things themselves, so they pick on whats wrong with everyone else around them. People cannot face society, its to harsh to go out against alone, most just hide and go with the flow, never making that change for themselves.
